Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Information entered into a search tool, such as a name or case number, is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies any result. Lapeer County Court Docket does not maintain its own log of the terms entered into those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If an email or other direct message is sent to us, we may retain it to respond or manage the communication. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine server and analytics records may collect technical details when a page is requested, including:
- The IP address associated with the connection
- The browser and version used for the request
- Device type and operating system details
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is provided
- Date and time information for page requests
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that can help measure how visitors move through the site. Analytics services may use them to produce aggregate traffic information. Browser settings can limit or block cookies, although doing so can change how some functions perform.
What We Do With This Data
Technical and directly supplied information is used for ordinary operation of the service, including the following purposes:
- Operating, maintaining, and improving page delivery
- Routing a submitted search to the applicable outside service
- Assessing aggregate use and site performance
- Detecting, investigating, and correcting technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may be interest-based
No Court-Record Data on File
Lapeer County Court Docket does not host, compile, sell, or maintain a database of court dockets or personal case-file information. It provides general routing information for the Lapeer County Clerk, the 40th Circuit Court, 71A District Court, Probate Court, and MiCOURT Case Search. Court-held record access is governed by MCR 8.119, while MCR 1.109 protections cover specified personal-identifying information in court filings. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party case records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Available search boxes are operated by third parties. A query submitted through one of them is subject to that provider's privacy practices, retention rules, and sharing policies rather than this policy. Those practices are outside our control, so review the provider's terms before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to official Lapeer County court pages, MiCOURT, clerk resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the privacy policy of that destination controls the visit and any information shared there.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to observe activity across websites for interest-based advertising. That activity occurs within the partner's technology, not within the court-record resources described here.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Depending on the service used and a legal obligation, information may be available to:
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tool
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving advertisements on the site
- Government authorities when a valid legal requirement compels disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used to protect information collected through the site. Internet transmission and storage cannot be made completely risk-free, however, and no assurance can be made that an incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If information from a minor is identified as having been submitted directly to us, it will be removed as appropriate.
Your Data Rights
Any rights concerning information supplied to this private site depend on applicable law and the circumstances of a request. No general Michigan consumer-privacy code is asserted here. MCR 8.119 and MCR 1.109 concern access to court-held records and protected identifying information; they do not make this private reference site the custodian of a court file. Subject to applicable law, an individual may:
- Request information held about that individual
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of applicable information
- Object to certain processing where the law provides that option
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal obligations change. A revised version becomes effective when posted here and will show its effective date.
